Education is one of the major highways to gender equality.

In this first edition, lets focus on problems of gender equality pertaining to STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics). STEM fields have historically held a gender equality issue.

A 2011 report by US Department of commerce found only 1 in 7 engineers is female. Women occupy 27% of computer science jobs and there has been no employment growth in STEM jobs since 2000.

Archaic stereotypes and unconscious bias mean young girls are not encouraged to pursue math and science. The video below provides some insight as to why.
